Francisco Reyes-Godinez “Don Panchito” April 1938 – June 2025 With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Francisco Reyes-Godinez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, who entered eternal rest at the age of 87. Francisco Reyes was born on April 11, 1938, in Jalisco, Mexico, to Maria Godinez and Francisco Reyes. A longtime resident of Toppenish, Washington, he lived a life grounded in humility, faith, and hard work. On April 28, 1960, he married Maria Del Refugio Guel, and together they raised 10 children over the course of their 65-year marriage. Francisco dedicated many years to working in agriculture and found great joy in raising livestock, tending his garden, and serving God with quiet devotion. A proud Catholic, Francisco was a beloved presence at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where he faithfully attended Mass, sang religious hymns, and cared for the flowers and church grounds with great love. He lived his faith not just in words, but in actions—offering guidance, sharing life stories, and reminding those around him to keep God close to their hearts. His family is especially grateful for the comforting prayers and Masses celebrated by his dear friends, Father William and Father Mario. Above all, Francisco was a family man. He was the heart of every celebration, known for his joyful singing, playful humor, and the deep love he carried for each of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Guel de Reyes, and their children: Alfredo (Reyna), Isidra, Rosa, Maria Elena (Sotero), Jose Francisco (Itza), Jose Arturo (Carmen), Carlos, Jose de Jesus (Elizabeth), Maria Anabel, and Lupe Ernesto (Cristal) along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his eldest son, Jose Benjamin Reyes. Francisco’s legacy is one of deep faith, unconditional love for family, and humble service to others. His example will live on in the lives he touched, and the family takes comfort knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and in the presence of his Lord and Savior. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish, followed by the Rosary at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3rd, at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Zillah Cemetery. Francisco Reyes nació el 11 de abril de 1938 en Jalisco, México, hijo de María Godínez y Francisco Reyes. Residente de Toppenish, Washington durante muchos años, vivió una vida fundamentada en la humildad, la fe y el trabajo duro. El 28 de abril de 1960, se casó con María del Refugio Guel, y juntos criaron a 10 hijos a lo largo de sus 65 años de matrimonio. Francisco dedicó muchos años a trabajar en la agricultura y encontraba gran alegría en la crianza de animales, el cuidado de su jardín y en servir a Dios con devoción silenciosa. Católico orgulloso, Francisco fue una presencia querida en la Iglesia Católica San Luis Gonzaga (St. Aloysius), el lugar al que asistía fielmente a misa, entonando los cantos religiosos donde cuidaba con amor las flores y los jardines de la iglesia. Su fe no solo la expresó con palabras, sino también con acciones: ofrecía consejos, compartía historias de vida y recordaba a quienes lo rodeaban la importancia de tener a Dios en el corazón. Su familia está especialmente agradecida por las oraciones y misas ofrecidas por sus queridos amigos, el Padre Guillermo y el Padre Mario, que brindaron gran consuelo. Por encima de todo, Francisco fue un hombre de familia. Era el alma de cada celebración, conocido por su canto alegre, su sentido del humor, y el profundo amor que tenía por cada uno de sus hijos y nietos. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, María Reyes, y sus hijos: Alfredo, Reyna, Isidra, Rosa, María Elena, Sotero, José Francisco, Ivonne, Arturo, Carmen, Carlos, Jesús, Elizabeth, Anabel, Ernesto, y Cristal, además de muchos nietos y bisnietos que le dieron un orgullo y alegría infinitos. Le precedieron en muerte sus padres, hermanos y su hijo mayor, Benjamín Reyes. El legado de Francisco es de fe profunda, amor incondicional para su familia y el servicio humilde a los demás. Su ejemplo siempre vivirá en las vidas que tocó, y su familia encontrara consuelo al saber que ahora descansa en paz, reunido con sus seres queridos y en la presencia de su Señor y Salvador. El velorio se llevará a cabo el miércoles 2 de Julio, de 4:00 pm a 6:00 pm, en la Iglesia Católica San Aloysius en Toppenish, seguido del Santo Rosario a las 6:00 pm. La Misa Funeral se celebrará el jueves 3 de julio a las 10:00 am en la misma iglesia, y el sepelio tendrá lugar después en el cementerio de Zillah. En lugar de flores, la familia les invita a honrar su memoria con oraciones y actos de bondad.
