Mina Delores Crowder

Mina Delores Crowder, born July 2, 1939, in Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on May 9, 2026 in Spokane, WA surrounded by loved ones. Mina spent her early childhood in Minnesota before moving to Salt Lake City at the age of eight. She later settled in Washington, where she was raised in White Swan and built the life and legacy she would become so well known and loved for. She was the beloved daughter of the late Eva and Joseph Gardner and a cherished sister to Joanne Folks, and the late Bonnie MacDonald and Betty Denver. Mina was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver whose life revolved around her family. She is survived by her children: Neil (Doey) Monoian, Laurie Morrow, Diane Monoian, David Monoian, Michael (Patricia) Monoian, Rosie (Terry) Borneman, Victoria Crowder, Grace Wakwak, Nichole Wakwak, Regina (Matthew) Baker, Patricia Crowder, Marcos Millian, Lashae (Jevin) Smith, Dewy Bill, Ashton Yallup, Carlos Gasca, and many beloved foster children she opened her home and heart to over 27 years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her sons Tommy (Linda) Monoian and Doug Monoian. Mina also shared her life with Mike Monoian, the father of her children, and was preceded in death by her husband Martin J. Crowder. Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and soon-to-arrive great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Mina was known for being sassy, sharp-witted, and deeply caring—“smart as a whip” right up to the very end. She was the kind of person who showed up for everyone. She might scold you if needed, but she always made sure you were fed first. She loved adventure, whether it was car rides, time in the mountains, beach trips, or her early days riding horses in White Swan—even taking on rattlesnakes without fear. She adored animals, and every pet she owned had a proper “people name.” She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: holidays, family gatherings, cooking, crab dinners, snacks, her favorite Diet Pepsi, and watching her soaps and westerns. Mina was, above all, a mother. She took great pride in raising her children and being present for their lives. Their accomplishments brought her so much pride and joy—celebrating graduations, milestones, and achievements big and small. In addition to her role as a caregiver, Mina built a strong work ethic and career. Through hard work, and good relationships, she eventually became a business owner and proudly ran the Shamrock Tavern in Wapato for many years, where she made many friends, sponsored kids’ sports teams and pool leagues. She was also a lifelong member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Her dedication as a foster parent brought her many recognitions and honors, including serving as president of the foster parent association, reflecting her deep commitment to helping others. Mina leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, resilience, and a strong sense of right and wrong, teaching those around her how to treat people with kindness and strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles in Toppenish on Sunday, May 17, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring a dish; food will be blessed at 2:30 p.m.
