Robert L Fiander

On July 8th 2020 Robert Lawrence Fiander of Toppenish Washington passed away in Puyallup Washington. Robert was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, uncle and caretaker to those who needed it. Robert was born to November 25, 1939. He was a proud member of the Yakama Nation and Proud Army Veteran. Robert was raised in the Medicine Valley-White Swan area by his grandparents, whereas Robert, Dennis and Roger were raised together. After his education he was stationed in Germany for four years in the army, once he completed his service he was called home to his home on the Yakama Reservation where he was united with his family. Robert’s past time was renegading, I mean fishing with Carl Sutterlict on the Columbia River. He loved fishing along the Columbia River with all the men he called brother and his Alexander family. To support his family, he worked in heavy equipment as an operator, Truck Driver and worked a lot in construction. He was always a great provider for his family and was willing to share whatever he had with those that were in need. Robert was also a proud member of the Warriors association and served as an Eagles Board Member and on the AAOA Board. In his free time, he loved spending time with his casino family at different casinos as he enjoyed traveling on the Senior Trips with this wife Debbie. One of the last jobs he had before he retired was he really enjoyed driving his school bus for the Yakama Nation Tribal School where he made many life-long friends. Everywhere he went, his students always said hello and showed respect for that was the kind of man that he was, he loved everyone. He was a respected elder to say the least. In his last days he was active elder who loved spending time with his wife Debbie, traveling when they could, and he loved his game nights at home with Debbie and his sparring partner Stephanie White playing dominoes and cards and spending time with family. Robert is survived by his Wife Debbie Fiander and his daughter Patricia Fiander Bogar & Vernon Bogar (husband), and their 4 children; Vernon Bogar III, Robert Bogar, TiMina Bogar and Kaileah Bogar Grand children: Skyler Bogar, Tehya Bogar, Serena Bailey, Ryker Bogar, Ava Bogar and Adriel Ramirez. Step Daughter Sophie Heemsah, Step Sons Marvin and Thumper Heemsah and many more grandchildren that called him papa and not mention all the ones he considered his son/daughter throughout his life he touched many lives. He He is survived by brothers: Roger Fiander, L.J. Fiander, Richard Fiander, John Adams. His an aunt Alice “Allie” Alexander Durant, and so many respected men he called brother and not to mention the many nieces and nephews he loved so dearly. Robert was Preceded in Death by his parents: Patricia Hoffer, Lawrence Fiander, Henry Alexander. His Grandparents; William Fiander & Alma Olney Fiander, Harry Hoffer & Ina Hoffer, Homer Hoffer & Maria McKay, Edward LaClair & Elizabeth Gard LaClair. His brothers Dennis Fiander, Ed Harritt. His Uncle Clifford Alexander and his grandparents James and Annie Alexander. Visitation will be at Heggie's Colonial Funeral Home on Monday July 13, 2020 from 12-3PM. Graveside services will be at Reservation Community Memorial Park west of Wapato on Tuesday at 10AM.
