Clifford S. Cheney III (64) of Toppenish passed away at his home outside of Toppenish on Thursday April 6, 2017. Clifford was born in Yakima on September 9, 1952 to Clifford S. and Doris (Foster) Cheney. His father died before Clifford was born and he was raised by his step-father, Everett Cook and his mother, Doris. Clifford graduated from Toppenish High School and served in the U.S. Army for 10 years where he married Kelly and they had Clifford and later married Joyce and they had Travis. Honorably discharged from the army Clifford moved back to Toppenish where he worked for High Country Juice in Selah for many years. He dedicated his life to supporting youth rodeo at his family arena south of Toppenish. As a young man he enjoyed trapping, hunting, camping and especially fishing. Clifford is survived by his two sons, Clifford S. Cheney IV of Cairo, Egypt and Travis Cheney of Toppenish; a brother, Byron of Prineville; three sisters, Karen Gulley-Wesselius of Zillah, Sue Burton of John Day, OR and Judy Fortenberry of Belverde, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be held at the Zillah City Cemetery on Friday April 14, 2017 at 3PM. Friends can send condolences at www.toppenishfunerals.com.
