Cruz G. Pardo

September 14, 1929 - July 27, 2019

Cruz G. Pardo was welcomed home by his Lord & Savior on July 27, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Texas in 1929, the son of Eusebio and Belen Pardo, he settled in the Yakima Valley in 1952. Cruz was an excellent provider for his family holding jobs at Safeway, Savin Sandy’s, and was a business owner of Tampico Tavern, in Toppenish, WA, finally fulfilling his dream and opening his own grocery store, Pardo’s Stop & Shop Market in Wapato, WA, where he retired in 1992. A loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Cruz enjoyed playing music with local bands and taught himself to play the bass guitar and the saxophone. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family and they spent many happy summers exploring the West Coast, visiting family in California & Texas. He and his wife, Stella enjoyed annual trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe, NV. An avid Mariners fan, he often attended games at Safeco Field, cheering on his favorite player, King Felix. Our father enjoyed spending quality time with his children, showering them with warm hugs, smiles and an overflow of love. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his extended family, playing his guitar and singing with his brothers at the many family celebrations that were held over the years. Cruz is survived by his son; Bob (Minerva)Pardo; two daughters, Cynthia (Jaime) Tranmer and Nora Pardo; four grandchildren, Fredrick Luera, Andre Vasquez, Marina Medrano and Andres Barrios; two great-grandchildren, Siyah and Nathaniel Luera; four brothers, Valentino, Juan, Anselmo and Lupe; two sisters, Carmen Ybarra and Gloria Pardo Marsh. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Stella, his son, Richard and two brothers, Raul and Frank. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the entire staff at Fieldstone Assisted Living, Fieldstone Memory Care, Virginia Mason Hospice (Karen), and Chaplain Luis from Virginia Mason Pastoral Care. We will miss our father deeply but are comforted that he is now in his forever home. Vaya con Dios papa. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 1, 2019 from 4-7PM with recitation of the rosary at 7PM at Colonial Funeral Home.
