The last quilt was sewn February 4, 2018 at 9:25pm DONNA MARIE (GORDON) GAMBLE, born in Portland, Oregon, May 21, 1930 to Everett P. and Myra I. (Hall) Gordon. Donna is survived by her daughter Barb (Greg) Bailey, White Swan, Wa., son George Gamble (Robin), Toppenish, Wa., son Tom Gamble, Goldendale, Wa., sister Lois Gordon Jones, grandchildren , Ray, Morgan (Sarah), Hannah, Chance, Katie, Rygh, Clive, Abby, Bekka, Callie Jane, Kayce and Wyatt. Three step grandchildren Robert, Martay and Shaniya. Great grandsons Jackson and Garret, Great Granddaughter Madison. Nieces Diane (Doug) Hunt, Marilyn (Denny) Ebner, Annette (Kirk) Jolma, niece Judy (Neil) Brandt and nephew Deane (Jan) Gamble, several great nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by husband Frank Gamble, son John Gamble, both parents, grandparents, Aunt Beulah Lee, and mother-in-law Jane Gamble, step mother Evelyn (Gordon) Weis, step brothers Duaine and Dale Houston. She was a lifetime partner in the family cattle ranch and dedicated quilter since 1952, loved family, country music, horses, quilts and flowers. Through the years she taught her granddaughters some of her quilting skills. They made Soldier Quilts for their 4H community service projects, learned to hand piece quilts the old fashion way and sew them on their machines. Callie Jane and her Granny shared a love for quilting. They spent endless hours in the quilting room. She loved looking out her quilting room windows to admire the cows in the pasture. There always needed to be a horse in her nursery pasture to look at also. She was very dedicated to watch her grandchildren at the Central Washington Jr. Livestock Show and the local rodeos that they participated in. Donna married Frank T. Gamble, May 31, 1952, at Wemme, Oregon, and resided in Toppenish continuously since that time. Her many memberships included the Sunshine Circle Ladies, Yakima Valley Quilters Guild, Horizon Quilters Guild of Grandview, American Quilters Society of Paducah, Ky., American Salers Association, Yakima County Cattlemen’s Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Narcissa Whitman Chapter of Yakima, and Daughters of the Union Vets of the Civil War, Tent #40. Between 2004 and 2010 she made 230 quilts for wounded warriors. These quilts were sent to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. The family would like to thank Toppenish Rehab and Nursing facility and Astria (Toppenish) Hospital for the extra special care they gave mom. Visitation will be at Heggie’s Colonial Funeral Home Friday February 9th 1-5pm. Services will be at Heggie’s Colonial Funeral Home Saturday February 10th at 11 am. Burial to follow immediately at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
