Dustin Lee Stump

On July 24th, 2022, Dustin Lea Stump, beloved son, brother, husband, uncle and friend, left this world to join those loved ones who left before him. Dustin was born on June 13th, 1986 to Leslie Stump (Rendon) in Toppenish, Washington. He lived and attended school in his early years in Toppenish and Sunnyside, later moving to Satus with his Mom and Joe-dad in 2003. Dustin graduated from Mabton Sr. High School in 2005. Through his high school career Dustin participated in various sports including baseball, wrestling and football. He was also a proud member of the Mabton FFA, becoming the FFA President his senior year. He raised and showed pigs while in FFA, with his Grandpa Les proudly teaching him the finer arts of "hog farming". He attended various livestock shows with his pigs and even won a few ribbons. He loved 'hog farming" with his Grandpa and learning all he could from him about it. Prior to graduation, Dustin proudly signed up to join the US ARMY and serve his Country. After graduation Dustin left to attend OSUT Training at Fort Knox Army Base in Kentucky. Upon completion of his training he went to Fort Benning in Georgia to attend jump school. From there he was stationed at Fort Richardson located in Alaska to serve with the 1/40 Calvary. In October of 2006 Dustin and his Unit deployed to Iraq, where he fought bravely alongside his brothers until November of 2007. For his deployment he was awarded a Purple Heart as well as other various medals for his service while overseas. He was discharged from the military in 2009. Upon his return, Dustin had a rough go of readjusting to civilian life, but he trudged through in true "Stump" fashion. After a few wrong turns, he finally got himself back on track with the help of a good friend, Maggie Clark Pezzulo, who also proudly served in the US Army, and met him through the VFW in Sunnyside, Washington. In 2014, Dustin met and married his first wife, Jennifer. During their brief marriage they both came to the conclusion that they made better friends than they did a married couple, and remained friends throughout, even after going their separate ways. Shortly thereafter Dustin met and married the love of his life, Shelley. He and Shelley spent the next 8 years together and enjoyed many activities and adventures together, and always looking towards their next great thing. In February of 2022, Dustin's beloved wife Shelley passed away, leaving him with an extremely heavy heart. Dustin enjoyed spending time on the Satus with his family at the family farm, fishing, bow hunting, bird hunting with Lyle and his cousins in the back country, boating and camping. He loved spending time with good friends, working endlessly on vehicles, and telling countless dirty jokes to anyone who would listen. Dustin had a smile that could light up the darkest room and a protective streak a mile wide, especially where his sisters and any kids were concerned. He would give you the shirt off of his own back if you needed it, and very rarely complained of trials and tribulations in his life. He LOVED the Dallas Cowboys and was a true and loyal fan from the tender age of 5, never wavering in his faith of his team, with many "There's always next year" stated to anyone who ribbed him about an "off" season. Dustin is survived by his mother, Leslie (Joe-dad) Rendon of Toppenish, and his biological father Danny (Leticia) Zyph of Yakima. He is also survived by his "Pa", Robert McDaneld of Moxee, his adopted grandmother Kay Clampitt as well as grandparents Don and Yolanda Bickett, all of Sunnyside. He leaves behind his 3 sisters, Stacie Stump of Yakima, Danielle Zyph of Yakima, and Britney Zyph, as well as his 4 remaining brothers, Alex Stump-Milam of North Dakota, Cody Stump-Milam of Ohio, Steven (Lauren) Ritchey, Jacob Zyph, and Joshua Stump-Rendon of Everett Washington. Also 2 (step)daughters Katie (Donnie) Dunn and Beth Newman, 3 nephews, Brayson, Sebastian, and Jaziah, as well as his only niece Harper, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents (maternal) Lester and Dona Stump of Mabton, and (paternal) Bobbi and Don Zyph of Toppenish. He was also preceded in death by his baby brother Quinn Stump-Rendon of Satus, his favorite Uncle Jon Bonewell Sr of Mabton, and his wife Shelley (Underwood Newman) Stump of Yakima. Services are being held on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at Heggies Colonial funeral home in Toppenish, Washington. Viewing will be at 10 AM and service at 11 AM.
