Paul "Watubi" Smartlowit Jr. (50) of Toppenish passed away in Toppenish on Friday June 3, 2016. Paul was bor on February 8, 1966 to Paul and Leona (Showaway) Smartlowit Sr. Paul was raised and educated in Toppenish and worked for Yakama Forest Products as a laborer, hyster and backhoe operator. He enjoyed collecting comic books and pro wrestling. He is survived by his mother, Leona of Toppenish; two brothers, William Smartlowit of Toppenish and Glenn (Carol) Smartlowit Sr. of Wapato; two sisters, Sandra (Sid) Umtuch of Toppenish and Marguarite (Darnell) Becenti of Pendleton. He was preceded in death by his father in 1990; his brother, Neal; his grandparents, Louis Smartlowit, Alice Wahpat, and Dominic & Louise Showaway. Dressing services were held on Monday June 6, 2016 at 1PM at the Toppenish Longhouse. Procession will leave the longhouse at 7AM Tuesday for burial at the Toppensih Creek Longhouse in White Swan. Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
