Cheri Michel Holden

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a remarkable woman Cheri Michel Holden, age 59, from Zillah who lost her battle with cancer Sunday morning Aug. 3, 2025. Her life was a testament to love, service, and boundless generosity. Cheri was born on July 14, 1966, to Linda and Stanley Myles. Cheri attended school in Toppenish and graduated with the class of 1984. To her family, Cheri was the cherished wife of Rick, whom she married on June 7, 2003. She was also a devoted mother to Britteny Dawson (Shawn), and her adopted niece and nephew Gracie, and David. The three were welcomed into her heart and home, raising them as her own with unwavering affection and care. Cheri is also survived by her mother Linda Layman and her “Other Dad,” Fred West of Toppenish and brother Robbie Myles of Naches. She was also survived by her Aunt Betty and Mary , along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Cheri was blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren whom she always looked forward to their visits. Shortly before her passing she was blessed to have met her newest granddaughter, Kinsley Michel which bears her middle name. She was preceded in death by her father Stan Myles, her paternal and maternal grandparents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Clancy and Jerry Holden as well as her Aunt Susie. Last by not least, one of her dear friends, Sandy Hovland. Her home was well-known for its laughter, warmth, and the delicious aroma of holiday treats crafted from treasured family recipes. The holidays held a special place in her heart; she took genuine joy in gathering loved ones together, creating memories destined to bring comfort and sweetness to those who remember her. She was known for her ever-present flip flops, bold love of pink, smile, and her exuberant enjoyment of visits to her favorite casinos. Regardless of whether she was testing her luck or spending time with Rick, she loved each moment with enthusiasm and a good time. Her compassion extended well beyond her immediate family. As a dedicated member of the Dept. of Children Youth and Families (DCYF), she devoted her career to uniting over 500 children with their forever families. Her tireless efforts and gentle guidance will leave a legacy, touching countless lives across generations. Her kindness, warmth, and determined spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though her absence brings sorrow, her memory lives on through the love she freely gave, the home filled with joy, and the many lives she changed forever. May her spirit be remembered always—barefoot in flip flops, dress in pink, and embraced by laughter, love, and gratitude from all who were blessed to know her as family and friend. A Celebration of Cheri’s life will be held at Zillah Nazarene Church August 13th, at 11:00. During the luncheon following the service the family invites you to honor Cherie through stories and fellowship. In that spirit, we kindly ask everyone to wear bright cheerful colors or your team Cheri t-shirts.
